Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Spanish in an urban middle school with most of my Hispanic students having recently arrived in the USA. This reading book. "Alejandria Fights Back! ¡La lucha de Alejandria!" will help me to increase their ability to read Spanish.

This project will help me find different ways to talk about housing justice with my students and engage the community in discussing the book and connections with community issues.

My Project

These books will help my students connect with their communities and the real world. Students will find several guiding questions that will help them have a better understanding of their communities and the relevance of every member.

These books, through Alejandria, offer a vision of the power of multicultural communities and the problems that are frequently faced in a community that is gentrifying.

Throughout this book, students will get a deeper knowledge of the community where they live and will show a better understanding of their community with a final project.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
