Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Children of immigrants or immigrants themselves, my students are challenged economically and academically. Many struggle to support their own families through part-time jobs or through household responsibilities. The combination of socioeconomic and academic struggles creates a great challenge for my community of students. Despite their economic hurdles, my students are avid learners who utilize whatever available resources they have to complete objectives. This year alone, they made incredible projects with the limited resources available to them.

As students continue to improve with their cinematography, they are getting more ambitious with their lighting needs.

My Film Production students need these LED lights to properly light their sets to build a variety of moods for their short films. Meanwhile, my Film Journalism students need LED lights to properly light their subjects during interviews. We've been surviving thus far using the practical lights present in whichever filming location they are in--but it's not enough. Filmmaking is about painting a beautiful moving image, and light is one of the tools a cinematographer needs to paint with. Please help us bring this necessary tool into my classroom.
