Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the most amazing Kindergarten class this year. These students come from a very low socio-economic background, yet are filled with joy for life, compassion for each other, and a love for learning.

I have never seen children so hungry to learn.

Even with 75% of my students having a native language other than English, these students continue to make progress and amaze me every day.

My Project

The goal of this project is to provide hands on learning tools for the students in my classroom and a place to store the items. These manipulatives will provide hands-on learning opportunities for my students to learn their letters and numbers. Students will use the objects to learn place value, counting, letters and how to spell words. These manipulatives will also help build fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The paints and ink pads will provide multisensory activities to help reinforce the recognition of letters and numbers. The books will provide hands-on opportunities for students to read in both English and Spanish.

This will help build the foundation for every child to be able to read and write.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
