The books we received were truly a gift to my students. When the boxes arrived, my students could not wait to open them and see what had arrived. When they saw the books, they were so excited! They kept asking if they could have one to read and wanted to know what else was going to arrive. \r\nThese books have helped grow the chapter book section of my classroom library. This year my students have grown so much in reading and having these books was like a reward. They wanted to read \"bigger\" books. It really encouraged them to move into chapter books and discover new series. \r\nOne of my students could not wait to read the Magic Tree House Graphic Novel. She ended up keeping the book in her book bin and reading it multiple times! She was a student who often didn't want to read and since that book, she has been pushing herself to read chapter books. Everyday she shows me how much she has read from her current book. \r\nOnce again, I want to thank you so much for believing in this project and making it happen. It has been amazing to see my students reading these new books and finding new interests.","fullyFundedDate":1766937162560,"projectUrl":"project/dream-big-read-bigger/9835555/","projectTitle":"Dream Big, Read Bigger","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vizueth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8119485_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651689598761","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8119485"},{"teacherId":10397665,"projectId":9985547,"letterContent":"Ever since we received our new books, my students have been so excited to read them! I actually had to introduce a new check out system since the new books were in such high demand. The books range from silly, funny graphic novels, to more serious fantasy novels so there was a little something for everyone. When the boxes arrived, my students' faces lit up and they could not wait to open them and begin reading.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, I aim for at least 15 minutes of independent reading time per day. Students are able to sit where they want around the room and I often put cozy music on to create a nice reading ambience. My students very much look forward to this time each day. It's a calm pocket of peace in our otherwise busy schedule.\r\n\r\nI can tell that the time my students spend reading in our classroom has an impact on their overall reading across subjects. Their oral reading fluency scores are constantly improving and they are becoming more confident readers. This is certainly in part due to gracious donors like you. Thank you so much for your generosity. My class and future students who read these books will feel the impact for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1768001576073,"projectUrl":"project/help-fill-our-shelves-fill-their-minds/9985547/","projectTitle":"Help Fill Our Shelves, Fill Their Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stumbaugh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10397665"},{"teacherId":4009497,"projectId":9689109,"letterContent":"Once again, I can't thank you enough for supporting our classroom community. My little learners were extremely excited when we opened the boxes with all of the awesome materials. The materials especially the S.T.E.M. kits have encouraged collaboration, inspired deeper creativity, and supported problem solving skills. We have used the materials in several different ways so far including individual learning, small group and pair learning, as well as during free choice centers. The connection to literacy through fairy tales has been a favorite for all.","fullyFundedDate":1767027908640,"projectUrl":"project/stem-the-day-away-in-prek/9689109/","projectTitle":"S.T.E.M. the Day Away in PreK","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Maxwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4009497_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1520275810420","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4009497"},{"teacherId":9780898,"projectId":9627388,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through DonorsChoose. The Post-it easel pads, dry erase markers, construction paper, pipe builders, sentence strips, highlighters, scissors, craft sticks, and other materials you funded have already made a big difference in our day-to-day learning.\r\n\r\nWe are using the large Post-it anchor chart paper in small reading groups to show the beginning, middle, and end of stories we read together. Students work in groups to retell the story, choose the most important events, and record them on their chart. They then use markers and highlighters to add details about characters, setting, and problem/solution. These anchor charts stay posted around the room and serve as visual reminders of key reading skills. In math, students use the dry erase markers and place-value materials to model numbers and solve problems, then share their thinking on the easel pads so the whole class can see different strategies.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, my students were immediately drawn to the bright construction paper, kid-sized scissors, and colorful craft sticks. They were so excited to know these materials were \"for our projects.\" One student told me, \"It looks so fun!\" and that sense of pride has carried into their work. The pipe builders and sentence strips have also become favorite tools for building models and creating labels for our group charts.\r\n\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made our classroom more engaging, hands-on, and student-centered.
