My Students

We have a very transient school. Our school services the homeless population as well as many hotels, motels, extended stays, and apartments. Approximately 74% of our students receive free/reduced meals as well as a large percentage of English language learners.

My students all come from various backgrounds and have varying abilities, but they still all love to learn!

All of my students are considered delayed. I have students who do not hear English at home, students who are non-verbal, students who use sign language, and students who speak very well. All of my students are delayed in some way and need additional help with academics.

My Project

There are many ways to do math. It is not just learned by worksheets and pencil and paper practice. Math can be done through fun games using dice, playing cards, fun erasers, and even board games! The students in my class love exploring new ways to learn!

The materials in the project will be used to make math much more fun and exciting!

Number recognition, addition, subtraction, and multiplication can all be taught with things as simple as the dice, playing cards, and the erasers. The yarn and paper clips can be used to teach measurement.Many other skills such as turn taking, good sportsmanship, and communication can be taught with the board games along with the other skills listed!
