Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom know they are entering a place where their ideas are valued and their efforts are validated. I try to make the place where these students spend the majority of their day feeling comfortable and welcoming. Because my students have a variety of learning styles, I try to give them as much choice as possible.
Education is the most valuable weapon we can arm our students with to change the world.
My goal as a teacher is to provide multiple opportunities for making my students not only better learners, but better all around humans.
My Project
This year, my students are avid readers. They have the intrinsic motivation to read independently. In fact, I often find them trying to sneak reading in their laps while I'm teaching!
The Dork Diaries and Series of Unfortunate Events books are flying off the library shelves and making their way into my classroom.
I am hoping that having more books available inside of the classroom will increase my students' reading even more! I love how much they crave books and want to feed their motivation. I have even seen a huge increase in their discourse regarding the books they are reading. Please help me keep this going!
