Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders attend a diverse inner-city school in California where over half of the student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. My students are a super sweet, very diverse, hardworking, energetic, amazing group of children.

Each one of my students is very special.

They bring their own unique strengths and different needs to our classroom community. They love reading, listening to read alouds, writing, math-especially math games, doing science investigations, and showing their creativity through their artwork.

My Project

Every week my students create amazing pieces of art. Recently, they studied some of Diego Rivera's artwork and created their own beautiful sunflowers. They presented these at our Latino Culture Assembly. Prior to that they created funky witch feet and fall trees. Also, soon they will learn about perspective and create a field of poppies. We use a lot of watercolors in our classroom and are in need of more for all the projects we will do this year.

With your donation you will help provide each of my students with their own watercolor palette than can be refilled as they use up the different colored oval pans.

Blue runs out fast in our class so you will also provide us with extra refills of this color pan.
