This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working young men and women who strive to do the best they can do in all aspects of their lives. Through art they are able to express themselves in a positive manner. My students don’t always have access to the best supplies, so getting the opportunity to purchase good materials will make all the difference in their educational experience. For most of my students, art class is the one period where they get to truly express themselves.

My Project

My watercolor unit is designed so that students may express themselves in the most positive manner. Students first learn the basics of color theory and how to apply this to mixing paints. Then students learn how to use the different brushes and how they can create different strokes: Finally, students learn to paint in the literal and abstract methods. These supplies will give my students the chance to express themselves through watercolor. Watercolor is a great medium for people to express their emotions - especially those with special needs. I usually purchase the watercolors myself, so it would be great to not have to buy then.
