This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are excited, curious, eager, and hard working. They come to school every morning motivated to learn. Their favorite part of the day is centers- when they get to make choices about their learning! I love watching them engage, get excited when they master a new skill, and help their classmates. Among the 25 5-year-old students in my classroom are sisters, brothers, friends, explorers, leaders, musicians, scientists, mathematicians and readers. They get silly, they like to laugh, and they love our classroom!
They are also impoverished, inner city children growing up on the south-side of Chicago.
They love coming to school because our school ensures a safe, fun, and social learning environment in which they thrive; and every project posted on DonorsChoose gets them closer to success! I am so fortunate to help give them what they deserve, and so thankful for everyone who supports my little learners through DonorsChoose.
My Project
Students are at school 9-4, with lunch at 11am, leaving them hungry by 2pm with hours left in the day. They also are very thirsty and our water fountains have been turned off and wrapped up due to Covid 19. If they do not have bottles of water, they won't be able to drink any until they get home after 4pm.
Our students need water and snacks during our long school day.
