This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten and first grade in an urban school district, in Washington, D.C. My scholars are awesome, wonderful, delightful, curious, and bright. They are curious, eager to learn, love learning and look forward to an adventure every day! I provide engaging and interactive read aloud to boost interest in literature to build literacy skills. Our group activities to showcase skills learned include “ABC” bandwagon, make and take “ recycled sight words “ parade to our daily “read the room movement. There is never a dull moment in my classroom.
My students are special because they are eager learners.
They have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and are curious about the world.
My Project
The requested materials will help our scholars to maintain the skills taught in the classroom with proven hands on practice. The letter boards will increase alphabetical recognition in a very tactile way. Those pesky word families are often times difficult to decode. I can visualize our kiddos building mastery with their write and wipe “ sight words “ cards. We can’t wait for those leveled readers; to show our families that we know how to tap and blend. Reading on Razkids will be a breeze with our shiny blue head phones.
