This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second-grade Spanish immersion students are curious, creative, and eager to learn. Every day they develop literacy, vocabulary, and confidence in a second language. One of the most essential components of learning in our classroom is vocabulary acquisition. As students build academic vocabulary, they become stronger readers, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. Visual supports are vital because they help students make connections, retain new words, and use language independently. My students love seeing their work displayed and learning from materials created specifically for them.

A wide-format printer and laminator will allow me to create engaging instructional resources that support learning every day.

I will design anchor charts, vocabulary walls, phonics posters, reading strategy displays, math and science visuals, and student writing examples that align with our Spanish immersion curriculum. Instead of relying on small handouts or limited commercial resources, I can create large, easy-to-read materials that every child can reference from anywhere in the classroom.

These visual resources will encourage students to work more independently by providing immediate access to vocabulary, reading strategies, and key concepts throughout the day. Frequent exposure to academic language strengthens comprehension, supports meaningful conversations in Spanish, and builds confidence across all subject areas.

The laminator will protect these materials so they can be reused for many years, maximizing the impact of every donation. Your support will help create a print-rich classroom where every wall reinforces learning, expands vocabulary, and inspires students to thrive in Spanish.
