My Students

My class is full of ambitious learners. They adore exploring new concepts and racing around the room sharing discoveries, creations, and using their critical thinking skills to help each other in a compassionate environment where learning and growth are celebrated.

My class is comprised of highly motivated, intelligent, and inquisitive students who are constantly in search of a challenge.

I think of my class and school as "Teacher Heaven." I am so fortunate to work in a school where new ideas and creativity are embraced, encouraged, and supported by the staff and parents. My dream classroom for my curious students integrates technology and enriches the students' learning through collaborative activities.

My Project

My students will begin our unit on financial literacy. To start with, my savvy investors will use the Chromebooks in small groups to learn the basics of good financial decision making. Using the hands-on technology my young investors will access the website The Secret Millionaires Club (SMC) which features 26 animated webisodes and 15 digital flip books that will educate my students on how to solve business and financial problems.

The SMC book will help me guide our class discussion of the financial issues dealt with by the fictional characters on each episode.

We will explore how they overcame the challenges they faced.

The Secret Millionaires Club's website also provides third grade Common Core-aligned math lessons. We will utilize the lessons for each webisode. The students will verbally demonstrate their understanding of each financial lesson by recording their thinking into their Chromebook through the website Seesaw.

This kid-friendly Secret Millionaires Club project will engage and empower my students to learn practical and valuable lessons about money management. While using the Chromebooks, my young investors will develop a passion for earning money, saving money, investing and budgeting. This project may lead these mini Warren Buffetts into the field of finance. The benefits of this experience will be life-changing!
