My students need learning comprehension activity centers, vocabulary journals, and fluency activities to engage students in various reading activity.

My Students

Have you ever seen the warning signs? The warning signs students indicate are often overlooked when students are unsuccessful. Many struggling readers display this warning sign: "WARNING...I'm not interested in reading!!!"

My students are from a rural community in Kentucky.

Many are from economically disadvantaged homes. Several of the students either lives with one parent or their grandparents. They attend a public high school where they receive services for various learning disabilities. Being successful is something they have not always experienced in and outside of school. I'm fortunate to be working with such great students, who have impacted my life and my desire to want to help them become successful.

My Project

Building student interest can be a challenging job when working with teenagers. They give us warning signs that they're not interested in reading. However, after conferencing with many of the students, I've learned they truly have a desire and need to feel successful. Therefore, it is crucial to help my students be successful by providing them with engaging activities in order to improve their reading comprehension and reading fluency. "œCrack the Case! Inferencing Centers" and "œLearning Comprehension Strategies Activity Center" will allow my students the opportunity to engage in various levels and hands-on reading activities. Also, the markers are needed during the reading centers. "Building Fluency" and "Vocabulary Journals" will also promote student interest, enhance vocabulary, and help build self-confidence. These materials will assist in motivating students and increase their interest in reading and learning.

Giving economically disadvantaged students the opportunity to be successful is the key in building student interest and motivation.

With donors support, this project will impact students' interest and ability to become independent readers. Your support will also provide students with engaging materials, which will lead to greater success in school and life. Thanks you so much! WARNING...We can make a difference!!!
