This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are curious and creative learners with high academic goals. As a special education teacher, I work with both special needs students and general education students. It is my responsibility to cultivate the potential of every student and provide each and every one of them with the tools they need to succeed as global citizens. The majority of the students, (ninety-one percent) receive free lunch, while nineteen percent are in temporary housing. Additionally, twenty-one percent are students with disabilities and twenty-four percent are English language learners.
Thank you for making a positive difference in my students' lives!
My Project
Many of my students live in low socioeconomic neighborhoods and need our help with basic items. Some students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, etc. Other students have a hard time keeping track of their gloves and it can be hard for many parents to keep replacing them.
With hats to help keep them warm this winter, my students will get to school ready to learn and also be comfortable and warm while playing outside during recess.
This project will provide our students with not only their most basic needs, but emotional well-being, a positive atmosphere, confidence, and success.
Warm, cozy hats are an "extra" many of my students' parents simply can't provide.
I'm hoping to bring a smile along with these hats. You can only imagine the power of a smile until you've seen a child receive a gift. I'm already excited!
