This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hard working, brilliant students who are eager to make their communities better! Their dreams are lofty and their horizons are broad. They ask for little and are expected to do a lot. Yet they grumble not. They surely inspire me.

My Project

Our students are suffering through cold mornings walking to school and waiting outside to confirm negative COVID-19 status. By the time they get to classrooms, they are uncomfortable. Often, they are more concerned about getting their hands warm than engaging in content. They also are keeping their hands in their pockets rather than writing or keyboarding. I brought a few handwarmers to school, and they were an instant hit. Some students even asked their teachers for permission to come to my classroom to see if I had any left. The demand is great!
