This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Do you remember when your children and grandchildren came home with their art work to hang on your fridge? I am a PreK special education teacher in a inner city school system, that is trying to provide that same experience for my students and their families. The supplies that I have listed will also help with meeting the goals of my special education students.

Basic art supplies come from the art teacher in my district. Unfortunately, supplies have to be shared with the entire school, and so what we get for our own individual classroom is just the bare minimum (a few boxes of crayons, and a multipack of construction paper). The supplies that are provided are greatly appreciated, but they never meet the needs of my PreK special education students.

I am asking for some basic art supplies such as construction paper in a variety of colors, paint, paint brushes, and a sponge set that the student will use with the paint. The supplies will help my students in reaching their own individual goals. The art supplies is used to increase their fine motor skills, sensory skills,and cognitive skills (such as color identification). My students and their families will also have special art projects that they will be able to cherish for the rest of their life.
