Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at the third most diverse high school in the United States. My classes are for students below grade level. This generally tends to be students of color and students below the poverty line. When they break out of their shell, they are some of the most amazing, hilarious humans.

When students see themselves represented in the literature they read, they are more likely to continue reading, and hopefully develop an interest or love for literacy.

Many of my students have never read a book they enjoyed or that they got to pick.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
