My Students

As the librarian at our rural school, I get the privilege of daily teaching and interacting with our energetic and joyful students. Our students are always looking for an engaging book to spend their time reading. They are eager to read all genres; fantasy, mystery, realistic fiction, most anything that will pique a young mind's interest.

Our students have a voracious appetite for books and look forward to using the library to satisfy their love of reading.

Many students use the library to pick out reading group books. This is their opportunity to choose inspiring and influential books to read. Because of isolation and economics, the school library is many students' only exposure and opportunity to use a library. The students would be overjoyed to have an expanded and updated collection of books to choose from.

My Project

Reading a good book is an enjoyable experience and does much to boost our well-being. Providing our students with engaging, high-interest and relevant reading material will greatly improve our students' love of reading and learning. It will also benefit them academically, as they get practice reading their favorite books.

With these new books, the students at our school will have access to the books they want and dearly love.

When things are uncertain and learning looks different every day, the presence of good books in our lives is not just a tool for learning but a constant in a world that never stops changing. Our students will thrive with these books. As Charles W. Eliot said, "Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers."
