Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredible learners who are working hard to build communication, independence, and confidence in their daily routines. Many of them are nonverbal or emerging communicators, which means they need meaningful tools and structured environments to help them express their wants, needs, and ideas.

With the support of this project, my students will have access to communication tools that truly give them a voice.

The talk buttons will encourage functional communication by allowing students to request, respond, and engage with others in a clear and motivating way. The AbleNet device will take this a step further by helping students make choices using their own voice, increasing independence and reducing frustration.

In addition, the room dividers will transform our classroom into structured, supportive learning spaces. These defined areas will help students better understand transitions, follow visual routines, and engage in small group instruction. With clear spaces, students can focus on building important skills such as color matching, communication, and independent work.

These materials will not only support academic growth, but also empower my students to be more independent, confident, and successful throughout their day.
