Virtual Reality: A Window to a Globalized World

My Students

I teach middle school and high school social studies at a rural school in Northwest Missouri. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. They have very little background in world geography/multiculturalism and would benefit greatly from training in this area.

Learning about other cultures and world geography with virtual reality will open a window to the world and help increase their engagement and achievement.

Despite the hardships and challenges many of my students face, they walk into school every day full of life and eager to learn. They are excited to learn new things with virtual reality and technology. They currently have a limited exposure to various cultures of the world. This project will help introduce them to both concepts and provide them with a better understanding of world cultures and our global world today.

My Project

An Oculus Go stand alone virtual reality headset will help my students see and experience virtual field trips to cultures and places frow around the world. It will provide my rural students opportunities to go places they thought were never possible. Additionally, my students will be exposed to modern techonolgy which may benefit several as they prepare for careers which utilize this type of technology.

Through virtual reality, my students will journey and experience places all over today's globalized community.

They will learn to dream and through these experiences become increasingly engaged in their learning. Highly engaged and motivared students can achieve things they once thought were impossible!
