Having an iPad will allow the opportunity to differentiate instruction in my classroom. My classes would be able to stay connected to their parents and community by posting classroom work on our online portfolios. Many parents work and are not able to visit our classes regularly, but with our online portfolio parents can be more involved and active in their child's day! Students are very proud of their work and want to share with their parents what they have accomplished. My middle school and high school students want to use technology to connect parents and enhance their learning. Through technology and the use of an iPad parents could see their child's work all of the time. By having an iPad my students would be able to show their parents the projects they are working on in the classroom by posting pictures and videos. Having an iPad would allow me to record students acting out events from history, role playing, performing a mock trial, or presenting research projects on the Smartboard using a clicker/pointer. Also by having an iPad I can record students sharing information they have learned at the end of class that can be viewed by parents or students who are absent from class. By allowing me to post student videos recorded in class, parents may increase their involvement with their children and enhance student learning. My students would also be able to use apps that could help improve their learning of current events or events in history.
