This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The thing that I love the most about my students is that they push me to reinvent the way I do things. I teach in an area where approximately two-thirds of the students are at an economic disadvantage, but they don't let that define who they are. My students have diverse backgrounds, and I love to get to know all of their stories and embrace the awesome kids that they are! My students never fail to inspire me to become a better teacher. My students are 6th grade STEM students who are always looking for a challenge! They don't just want to learn something; they want to apply meaning to it, and they want to know that it is relevant. I want to be able to give them the opportunity to learn, have fun, and challenge themselves in the process.

My students are passionate about learning, and your donation will make it possible for them to solve real-world problems through critical thinking and design processes.

Vex IQ teaches the fundamentals of STEM through fun, hands-on activities that help young students perceive coding and engineering in a fun and positive way!

My goal for this project is for my students to have a competition field for them to run their robots on to put their coding and build skills to work! They will also use the field to get ready for competitions. Students will learn programming, engineering, design, problem-solving, leadership skills, collaboration, and communication skills – all skills that are critical for developing the 21st-century skills that are needed for future employment.
