My Project

My students thrive when they are actively engaged in learning, collaborating with peers, and solving problems together. In our classroom, we use the Building Thinking Classrooms philosophy, which encourages students to work in small groups at vertical whiteboards to solve challenging math problems. This approach helps students take ownership of their learning while building confidence, communication skills, and critical thinking.

When students work together standing at whiteboards, they are discussing strategies, explaining their thinking, and learning from one another.

Instead of passively listening, students are actively doing the talking and the thinking. This creates an exciting and supportive learning environment where every student has a voice.

To make this style of learning possible, our classroom needs large whiteboards and whiteboard markers. These materials will give students the tools they need to record their ideas, show their thinking, and collaborate effectively with their classmates. Having enough whiteboards and markers ensures every group can fully participate and stay engaged during lessons.
