My students need a library full of Spanish and bilingual books. This will provide them with more variety and more current books for their reading enjoyment.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Next year I am looking forward to enhancing the growth my students have shown already. They come to school energized and ready to participate and learn. Our school is located in an urban area which can present numerous challenges, however, my students are resilient and continue to push forward.
Nelson Mandela is quoted as saying, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." It is my goal to provide my students with interactive education so they can increase their knowledge and become change makers.
My Project
I would like to provide my students with more variety for silent independent reading. Including current top-selling and interesting bilingual books will encourage ALL students to be more proactive in reading.
Research shows, when students enjoy their reading selection they are more likely to select the same type of books again which also increases fluency and comprehension.
This is an enjoyment and success that I want all my students to share. As a literacy teacher, it is essential for all students to be given access to likable resources. This is how students will cultivate a lifelong love for reading.
