This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a school with special needs students in grades 8-12. Most come from high poverty families. I am the event planner at our school, and am always shopping for materials to keep our celebrations fun. Obtaining supplies for our events will enhance my students' ability to be creative, and work "outside the box." I believe this will help them in the future if they decide to go into event planning. It's a great skill to have because it helps kids with student organization and becoming small business owners.
My Project
As the event planner for my school building, I'm working with students on building practical skills. We would like to have materials to make Valentine's Day candy and lollipops. This will help my students build vocational skills, and also give them small treats to share with family and friends.
While working on vocational skills building, I'm also helping my students find ways to meet their basic nutritional needs.
While candy & lollipops are a treat for the holiday, they also will help my kids stay fed. Thanks for your support.
