This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we continue to build our reading skills in the classroom I would love to surprise my students on Valentine's Day with a special book. That book is "I Need a Hug" and "Necesito un Abrazo" by Aaron Blabey, which tells a kind story in English and Spanish that my students will enjoy. This year I have 39 kindergarten dual language students who love reading just as much as they love a hug!

My young readers will be so excited when they are able to take home their own copy of the book as a Valentine's Day surprise!

Along with the surprise gift, this project also includes valentine's gifts and stickers for the students to decorate. There are also a handful of books to add to my classroom library based on student interests, upcoming holidays and events, and classic children's stories. Through this project, my students will be able to use their creativity, expand their love for reading and overall we will be excited to celebrate together as a classroom community.
