Thanks to your generosity, we were able to add sofas and puffs to our gym space, creating a welcoming area where students can gather, learn, reflect, and build a stronger sense of community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new furniture, their excitement was immediate. Many of them could not believe that our gym now had a comfortable space just for them. The sofas and puffs have quickly become an important part of our program. We use them during health and wellness lessons, team discussions, conflict-resolution activities, and class reflections after games and fitness challenges. Having a dedicated seating area has helped students stay engaged and focused during instructional time while also making them feel valued and respected.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during a class discussion about teamwork and sportsmanship. Instead of sitting on the gym floor, students gathered on the sofas and puffs, creating a relaxed and inclusive environment where everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts. The quality of the conversation improved noticeably, and students were more willing to participate and listen to one another.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using this space to support our social-emotional learning activities, leadership discussions, and health education lessons. The seating area will also provide a comfortable place for students to work collaboratively on projects, reflect on personal fitness goals, and celebrate their achievements throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a lasting impact on our students and has transformed part of our gym into a space that promotes learning, connection, and well-being. This has created very meaningful moments, as words and sentences in Spanish can constantly be heard among laughter, smiles, and students helping one another. It has been wonderful to see them arrive excited to start the day in a fun way, without even realizing that they are also strengthening their language skills through a very valuable learning strategy.\r\n\r\nAs for the geometry materials, they have been extremely useful for creating projects and presentations for families. Having access to these tools has allowed me to raise the quality of student work while also teaching students how to properly use rulers and set squares in different contexts, whether in the classroom, at home, or in other academic activities.\r\n\r\nThe students' reaction when they first saw the materials was full of excitement and enthusiasm. Although new materials always create a sense of wonder, this time the excitement has continued every day because each game offers a different experience depending on the activity, classmates, and spaces where they are used. It has been an excellent opportunity to explore new ways of learning and building community.\r\n\r\nI will continue promoting one of the most important messages I share with my students: \"Kindness does not depend on friendship; everyone deserves to be treated with respect.\" My goal is to continue fostering empathy, respect, and trust among classmates so that every student feels safe, heard, and valued in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1777992623153,"projectUrl":"project/learning-spanish-math-and-friendship-t/10167378/","projectTitle":"Learning Spanish, Math, and Friendship Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Espinoza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10210765"},{"teacherId":2771085,"projectId":10249477,"letterContent":"In the age of internet and instant satisfaction students are losing the important skill of sitting with a problem for an extended period of time and trying multiple ways to solve it without getting overly frustrated.\r\n\r\nShowing students that they CAN do hard things is important but letting them try -and fail- to do hard things is essential.\r\nAllowing them to practice these skills in the form of play has helped to alleviate the stress associated with not getting things right the first time.\r\n\r\nWith these small, but challenging kanoodle games I have been be able to allow students to work together, or individually to complete puzzles.
