My students need these interesting books about math to help introduce and solidify new math concepts in an interesting, engaging way. These books will help introduce many new math concepts to my 3rd graders.

My Students

I work in a rural elementary school in NC. We are a school wide Title 1 school due to poverty. As third graders we are just becoming mathmaticians. This year to engage them in math I am trying to offer lessons that contain more hands on activities.

I am also starting each unit with a picture book that ties in to the concept I am introducing and they are loving this new approach.

They are constantly asking to take the books to read or to reread them during reading time.

My Project

These books will allow me to introduce math standards in an engaging and unique way that will hook my students into the math lesson that is being presented for that day or week.

Many new math standards are introduced in 3rd grade and these books will help students better understand and comprehend these new concepts.

Reading is the backbone of a child's education and being able to tie math and reading together in the classroom will help students see the importance of both subject areas. The books also bring to light real world examples of when different math strategies are used in everyday life.
