Using Essential Oils in the Classroom

My students need a variety of essential oils, a diffuser, and an oil case to help improve focus and memory in the classroom...and to make our classroom smell great, too!

My Students

"I am not a teacher but an awakener." ~Robert Frost I believe in reaching students by awakening all of their senses, and I especially believe in the power of aromatherapy using essential oils to help students stay alert and focused. There are many benefits to using essential oils in the classroom.

I teach in a rural, high poverty high school of 386 students in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

My students are juniors and seniors in English Language Arts. I have a medium-sized classroom and may have up to 38 students in the room at a time this year. With that said, it will be important to keep our air fresh and the students focused on learning. My students and I appreciate having a classroom that smells good (not one that smells like they just got out of gym class). Over the years, I have tried different ways to freshen the air...I've used plug-ins, sprays, etc. While these do help with the smell, they also add harsh chemicals to the air that give us headaches and aren't good for our bodies. Young Living Essential Oils, however, are 100 percent pure, therapeutic-grade oils. They are not adulterated with chemicals.

My Project

I have researched essentials oils, and the research shows that these oils are conducive for learning. I have a friend who has been a teacher for almost two decades, and she raves about how beneficial these oils are in many different aspects. Students with allergies or asthma shouldn't worry, and there are studies that show that essential oils can help students with autism. I selected a kit with 10 oils so that the oils can be mixed and matched to achieve a variety of desired effects. For example, Peace & Calming can be diffused to encourage a calm environment while teaching a lesson, doing homework, or studying. Thieves and Purification can be diffused to eliminate airborne viruses and bacteria. Valor can be diffused to promote feelings of confidence and enhance mental clarity and memory. Lemon can be used in the morning to help students wake up feeling happy and refreshed.

These essential oils can help promote a calm environment in the classroom, promote feelings of confidence in students, and enhance mental clarity and memory.

The diffuser combines a humidifier, air purifier, atomizer, and aromatherapy diffuser into one product that safely releases essential oils into the air to eliminate odors and create a spa-like atmosphere. The case will help us keep the bottles protected and organized. The oils will last a long time, and the diffuser can be used for years.
