My Project

It may surprise you, but teenagers love poetry! I'm sure you remember as a teen all the love poems, the feelings, the drama... well, nothing's changed. Our students are highly diverse, intuitive, and complex humans. They bring all of their strengths and weaknesses to school daily and are looking for love, acceptance, answers, and mostly to be seen and understood.

Poetry speaks to the young in ways that our fast-paced world of TikTok, Snap Chat, and Twitter cannot fulfill.

Help me get them off their screens and into the pages of poetry. The majority of our collection is OLD. Our average publication date in the 811 poetry section is... 1954. I need your help, they need new books, please help me give teens poetry books. With a book you are also giving them literacy skills, time for deep thought, self-reflection, opportunities for growth, and confirmation that they are not alone as they traverse the emotional journey of the firsts during the teen years.
