This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One important goal I have in my classroom is to expose my students to many languages. I believe that knowing more languages not only opens up more opportunities but also connects you with people that you may not have connected with otherwise. I love incorporating as much language as possible in my classroom. I am lucky enough to know how to speak Korean and have been looking for a way to help incorporate it more in my classroom. I would love this independent way for students to explore the Korean language during literacy choice time.

This collection of books from Habbi Habbi is a bilingual Korean/English book set with a read-aloud pen that will read out the words in both languages to encourage both literacy and language study.

These books include helpful themes for young children to learn such as common first phrases, numbers, family members, and home items. As my students are still learning to read and recognize English letters as well, I love that the read-aloud pens also have the option for English only as they explore the books. These books will help my students form a natural love of books and reading, as well as increase their language library. I hope that these books can inspire my students to continue exploring the world of literacy and language, and also build up their knowledge so that they feel confident in themselves.
