Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are students who did not pass the 6th-grade STAAR test and are now in my class (Math Success) for the goal to make them successful on the 7th-grade STAAR test.
Each of my students has a strong work ethic but has some unfinished learning to do.
They are all considered at risk of dropping out if they don't overcome the many obstacles they have faced.
My kiddos are spunky, street smart, and eager to prove they can do better. The reason that they are in my class is only more motivation for them when it comes to their other courses. They all participate in extracurricular activities that form them into great individuals but know that they must have better academics in order to have a better future.
My Project
I am asking for copy paper that is colorful so that I can create a more meaningful designed interactive notebook that students will be able to use as a resource with greater fidelity than they could if the units were not separated into different colors. With the use of these color copy papers, I will be able to engage my students with the creativity and unique binders that they are to use on a daily basis in and out of class. I have realized how important a color-coded process could be for my students after placing a colorful number line as a permanent resource and have seen multiple students referencing it because it was easily found in the sea of white foldables.
