My Students

As a Unified Champion School, students with and without intellectual disabilities take pride in competing in team sports against the rival Unified team in the district. Students practice health and fitness activities online during remote learning and are preparing for competition on the field and on the court.

My Project

Athletes and partners, that is students with and without intellectual disabilities, play together, lead together, and most importantly compete together. A Unified Champion School is one that is supported by Special Olympics to promote inclusion and healthy living.

The goal of Unified is to create an inclusive environment where all students have access to team sports.

Now that this program has been established at our school, we hope that sports uniforms will help students officially look the part of the team that they are. The two sports that students have clung to include basketball and soccer. While students have competed in numerous basketball games against the Unified rival school, soccer was just beginning prior to school closures.
