Functional. Multisensory. Basic. These words describe the lessons and activities that engage the Life Skills students in my class. Split into three groups between three teachers, the overwhelming goal is to promote independence in all students, regardless of ability level. The Life Skills students, age 14-22, work hard regardless of their needs for basic and direct instruction. We promote instruction through the creative and engaging lessons, so that all students benefit. With the amazing support of donors, our class has been able to and continues to stretch the limits of students that historically have been misunderstood and given low expectations.
