My Students

My classroom is filled with curious, active and questioning students who represent many different interests and walks of life. Together, we learn to work with each other, problem-solve and change the world!

Our school is located in a suburb which has little access to outside locations and activities due to scheduling and funding opportunities.

As a result, we create our own experiences and activities. We built an outdoor classroom, we do community service projects and we have brought technology into every aspect of our learning.

My Project

Virtual Reality is an up-and-coming technology that really grabs students' attention. Most of us associate VR with games and leisure time. But surprisingly, Oculus has made a specific effort to include educational games and simulations on their platform. This gives an amazing opportunity to any student who has access to the technology.

Oculus Quest 2 is a hands-on, stand-alone device that immerses students in new realities and new discoveries.

From space exploration and living on the International Space Station, to exploring jungles and tundra with National Geographic, the possibilities for exploration are almost limitless. There are also simulations that take students inside the human body and into the microscopic world.

This is a true opportunity to learn in a way most students have not experienced previously. The simulations we would use tie directly to the Utah Science Core Curriculum and can be used to give students experiences that will enhance and challenge their learning.
