Your contribution allowed us to provide NeeDohs as prizes for our first annual Battle of the Books competition at our school. This event is bringing together students from all grade levels who will spend months reading, discussing, and preparing to compete in a fun and challenging celebration of literacy. The NeeDohs are the perfect prizes—our students absolutely lit up when they saw them! They couldn't wait to earn one, and the excitement added an extra layer of motivation and joy to the competition.\r\n\r\nDuring the event, students will demonstrate not only their knowledge of the books but also their teamwork, sportsmanship, and love of reading. It was inspiring to see how a simple, tangible reward could make such a big impact on their enthusiasm to start working on the competition.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue fostering that same love of reading through next year's Battle of the Books. Your generosity has helped create a lasting tradition at our school—one that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and the joy of reading. They question how they work, what they represent, and how to get their own. There is no question that students are excited by the STEM that they can see and interact with!\r\nStudents are most engaged by the kinetic toy that looks like planets. They continually question why it keeps going, and race to be the first one into class so they can start it going. That has given me many opportunities to explain how electomagnets work as well as kinetic and potential energy. The Lego astronomy displays are perfect for my 6th grade classes who are studying astronomy. It gets them interested in how we know what we know about space and when we will go there again.","fullyFundedDate":1735318760855,"projectUrl":"project/stem-inspires/8895922/","projectTitle":"STEM Inspires!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1101358_orig.png?crop=1537,1537,x0,y389&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698795725505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/joanne-brown"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_33141","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":807,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":14,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":33141,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Olympus Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Olympus Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/granite-school-district/olympus-junior-high-school/33141"}
