Help me give my students base 10 blocks to help them learn regrouping in addition and subtraction. This is a really difficult concept for 2nd grade. Manipulatives help kids understand. We will use the dice for math games.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Place value and regrouping are very difficult concepts for my 2nd graders. Being able to physically touch and move the blocks on a math mat is extremely helpful in getting kids to understand the concepts behind regrouping. With physical manipulatives, even my most reluctant students are able to be successful.

Because of your donation, I will be able to give each student their own math kit to use.

They will not have to share resources while learning to regroup. This is so important in my class, because students can focus on the learning instead of negotiating with their partner for resources.

The dice will be used in math games that teach place value. My kids love the variety that games give in the math curriculum.
