Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are kind and patient. This is a confusing year to the art's teacher's and students alike. My students are the first year students back for choir and band class. They have enthusiasm and hearts like lion's. We have had to cancel concerts and find new ways to perform that are safe and give the students a chance to practice performance etiquette. They have come a long way and they are always open to trying new things.

My students never give up even when things are hard.

They laugh and fill the room with joy and music in a way we haven't seen in the past two years. They deserve a classroom filled with colorful posters and instruments.

My Project

My older classroom music students do not have the opportunity to learn recorder this year. Therefore, I want to supply them with ukulele's to instill a love and passion for musical instruments. All the students should have individual instruments to learn properly. Currently, I bring rhythm sticks to hit together or four mini xylophone's that the students share. They love music class, regardless of our lack of materials. The students have learned teamwork and have significantly improved in their socialization and self-esteem through music.

Music plays an important role in education and brain development; these students will become better readers, writers, and mathematicians through learning how to read music.

Music motivates the students in all aspects of life! It teaches them intrinsic motivation and teaches them patience. They have expressed interest in joining an ensemble next year and I want to prepare them for this any way I can.
