My Students

The students who attend my school are very creative and excited learners. Our classes usually branch off from our lessons topic of the day because they have so many questions.

I love their intuitive minds!

Every student in our county receives free lunch until high school because of our poverty levels. These students can't afford the musical opportunities they are craving. I facilitate as best as I can in the classroom with a budget less than one hundred dollars a year.

My Project

Putting ukuleles in these students hands will make a huge difference in their lives. My students come to school empty handed and leave with whatever knowledge I can give them in our short time together.

Our music curriculum has a focus on the ukulele but our students have none to use.

The 5th grade end of the year special project is a concert they could perform on these instruments. But with our very small budget, we can only get one a year without getting anything else for the classroom.

As it is right now, only one student can play an instrument at a time. Getting even one set of ukuleles for the classroom would facilitate so much learning and help guide these students into doing something constructive with their time at home as well as in school.
