My Project

Two portable monitors will let our co-teaching team deliver side-by-side instruction, display differentiated content simultaneously, and give every student, regardless of learning need, a clear view of their work.

My classroom is a co-taught ELA inclusion room, meaning I partner every day with a special education teacher to serve students with a wide range of learning needs — from students with IEPs and learning differences to students who are reading above grade level.

Every single child in our room deserves instruction that meets them where they are. Co-teaching is most powerful when both teachers can be fully active at the same time: one leading a whole-group lesson while the other supports a small group, or both modeling different strategies side by side. Right now, we share a single display, which forces us to choose between showing content and supporting students who need a closer look.

With two portable monitors, our co-teaching team can finally work in parallel the way inclusion is designed to work. The SPED teacher can pull up graphic organizers, anchor charts, or read-aloud text on one screen while I run the main lesson on another — no more shuffling windows or asking students to wait while we switch displays. These screens will support students who benefit from visual scaffolds, enlarged text, and step-by-step models displayed in real time. Students with processing or attention challenges will have consistent visual support without disrupting the flow of instruction for the rest of the class. Portable screens also give us the flexibility to rearrange our room for small groups, stations, or one-on-one pull-aside work — wherever the learning happens.
