Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our Pre-K dual language classroom, learning to read, write, and regulate emotions all happens side by side. Our library area is the heart of this learning; a cozy space where students explore books, build early literacy skills in English and Spanish, and practice calming strategies when they need a moment to reset.

This project will transform our library into a welcoming, hands-on learning hub.

A soft classroom rug will invite students to gather for stories, letter play, and quiet reading. Magnetic letters, floating letters, number sets, and writing stencils will allow students to build words, explore sounds, and practice early writing in playful, developmentally appropriate ways. A magnetic whiteboard and storage bins will keep materials accessible so students can choose tools independently and confidently.

Our library also doubles as a self-regulation space, stocked with books and materials that support emotional learning. With these resources, students will strengthen literacy, independence, and emotional awareness; all while learning joyfully in two languages.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
