My Project

The students at my elementary school are excited about learning music, I would love create a more inviting classroom in order to promote self-confidence, self-esteem and kindness by them being able to have and use new instruments, receive exciting rewards (good behavior incentives), and a place to practice their music compositions. A nurturing and exciting environment paired with a curriculum that includes fun musical instruments from around the world (and across different styles) is such a great way to reach ALL learners and promote social and emotional learning.

Music allows students to learn through a variety of skill-based activities that promote music making, music literacy, creative expression, collaboration, movement, peer learning, student independence and even composing!

A few examples include students learning note values (and even math) at the "composer station", where they can notate their own melodies and rhythms using manipulatives and games. Right now, we have a blank white board, and we are in need of a music staff and reference posters which can be used over and over.

Your donation will help set the stage for these talented future musicians, or it can help "spark" a new interest in that child who might need may discover that music is a wonderful way for self-expression. My students absolutely LOVE drumming of all sorts, and I would love to have a snare drum kit for my students who show interest and potential in playing the drums. I am also requesting an Irish Celtic harp because as of right now, we do not have many string instruments available. I know that my students and I would be absolutely ecstatic to receive these new materials! Will you be able to help us? Thank you for your consideration!
