This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our school community (grades 9-12) encompass a variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and ideas all of which help create a diverse learning environment. Many of our students have difficulty seeing the value of education and they have limited resources to help support their emotional, personal, and educational growth.

While I try to do what I can to engage my students it has become an increasingly difficult task.

Like most young adults my students are engrossed in the present (friends and social media) and cannot see beyond that to the importance of their school experience. As a result, students are disengaged in the classroom. Many students have attendance issues, and many also have a difficult time focusing on daily classroom tasks.

My goal is to engage students in their high school experience so that they can take control of their education and their futures!

My Project

My students need headphones to be able to access and listen to important audio content in our curriculum. Students now have the ability to listen to an audio of all of our texts. These recordings can adjust the speed of the reading depending on the ability of the individual student. This is a great learning tool for my increasingly large number of English language learners and special education students and the headphones will ensure that all students can access this important tool. The headphones were specifically chosen not only to access the audio but also to minimize noise and distractions. These headphones will be a PERFECT fit for my struggling students who need extra support.
