This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In recent years, educators are increasingly concerned about the emotional, social, and mental well-being of students. We are also focusing more on building positive relationships with students and helping them feel seen and acknowledged. I have recently found that one very successful way to do this is through providing small treats for students in the library. Students have told me what a big difference it makes in their day to get mints and stickers in the library. Some students even admit that they never would have come to the library in the first place except for the treats. Once here, they find a supportive environment where they can engage in literacy activities. I have been providing mints and stickers for over a year and it’s just becoming too cost-prohibitive now that I have a child in college. I hope you can help me keep the positive vibes flowing in the library for my students.
