Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 7th grade middle school students are creative, curious, and enthusiastic learners. As we learn about Medieval World History and Geography in my class throughout the school year, students will document their experiences in an interactive notebook called the "Travel Journal." Research shows that learning becomes more engaging, focused, and meaningful when students are allowed to be creative with their writing, active learning, and use a visually appealing format. The Travel Journal notebook does this for my students.

By the end of the year, students will have a personalized portfolio of all they have learned about Medieval History.

I have had students who come back to visit me years later and show me their Travel Journals they still have from my class. The Travel Journal becomes a work of their accomplishments in my class and gives students a sense of pride.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
