Help me give my students the transition skills they need from the appliances to clean, lamination for communication boards and chore charts and games to practice appropriate social interactions while waiting for food to cook.

My Students

I work in a classroom with students with significant disabilities. They range from ages 15-22 and we work primarily on transition-related skills. Most of my students qualify under Autism and multiple disabilities. My students are working on job and independent living skills and our classroom is the first stop to learning these important skills. From cleaning, to motor, to social skills, we work on it all!

My Project

Ever since the pandemic started, my students have been working on different cleaning jobs in our class and around the school. We have been limited to the jobs we can teach them due to lack of supplies, or the supplies given to us are hard for the students motor abilities. The supplies I am requesting would broaden their education of cleaning and job skills. I am requesting a couple of each item so that multiple students can work on the same job at the same time rather than having to wait their turn. The lamination and velcro would help us create durable chore lists and communication boards for repetition of lessons which is key in learning new skills for students with disabilities. The games would help students gain social skills while practicing other soft skills (emotions, colors, numbers, sequencing) while waiting for laundry to finnish, food to cook, or other transition activities that involve waiting.
