I am blessed to work in an amazing building with great students. We are a Title building. Approximately 50% of our students are minority. 50-70% of our students are not proficient on standardized tests. Most of our students are low SES.
We need to increase student engagement in our lessons.
By increasing engagement I believe we can help increase student learning and decrease our achievement gap.
My Project
Our district has been focusing on improving student engagement. Setting can play a part in improving student engagement. A classroom transformation is one way to engage students and increase the interest in learning.
By transforming the classroom into a glow room, I believe we will increase student engagement.
We will be doing station activities with our math and language arts students. This will be practicing solving equations in 7th grade or Pythagorean Theorem in 8th grade. Students can write using highlighters to solve the problems and have fun doing it! Our language arts groups will be using it to encourage using their senses and writing.
We believe this will increase engagement and student participating in their learning.
