Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten bilingual scholars are an energetic group of 5 and 6 year olds. 92% of the schools population receive free and reduced-priced breakfast and lunch. All of my students are receiving reduced-price or free lunch and breakfast. These young scholars face many challenges in their community like gangs, homelessness, and poverty, yet come eager to learn and enjoy school. Some stay in an after school program and others with babysitters.

These bilingual scholars are caring, supportive, young learners who welcome guests with a smile and a "Buenos Dias".

Although they face challenges they come ready to learn and are motivated.

My Project

Having a gift card from TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers) will allow me to find bilingual materials for my scholars. In the past it was very challenging finding bilingual materials for students, but with an incentive from districts and schools in promoting dual language programs, more materials are being developed and created by amazing teachers.

Bilingual materials are essential in promoting dual language programs.

The bilingual materials purchased on TPT can be used remotely when students are in the classroom or when they are given as an assignment to finish at home.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
