Help me give my students the tools and storage they need for working efficiently on their remediation/enrichment program, computer programming lessons and general technology education curriculum.
My students are middle schoolers from a diverse group of backgrounds socio-economically, racially and culturally. I harness this diversity by minimizing direct instruction to give them an opportunity to discuss, share and plot their own pathway through various design challenges and they really grab onto these real-world opportunities.
The students often work in small groups on project based assignments but for several curriculum units, they work on their devices completing individual remediation or enrichment units as well as computer programming challenges that really personalize their learning.
My Project
Students have 1-1 devices that are used daily in our Technology Education classes and during WIN (What I Need). While most of our work is done in small groups, about 25% of the time, they are working on computer programming challenges that involve video instruction. Students in WIN also have video instruction for their remediation enrichment programs. Students are also learning to model in 3D using SketchUp which is much more difficult using the Touchpad on their device.
While a few students have personal headphones and mice, we would like to provide classroom sets of these in order to allow every student access to the proper tools to work efficiently.
The headphones allow viewing of the video as well as a sense of focus during the individualized instruction and the mice allow for easier use of SketchUp as well as other computer usage for documenting their engineering design assignments.
