Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fifth and sixth grade science students bring boundless curiosity, energy, and determination to our classroom every single day. They thrive when given hands-on opportunities to explore, move, and take ownership of their learning. However, staying focused through long academic blocks and maintaining emotional regulation can be a challenge. That’s where these resources make all the difference.

Sensory Regulation Tools: The elastic chair bands, calm strips, and fidget items give students a quiet, non-disruptive way to channel nervous energy and self-regulate, directly improving their focus and time-on-task during science investigations.

Nutritious Snacks: Hunger is a quick barrier to learning. Having accessible snacks ensures every student stays energized, focused, and ready to participate, while also providing a sweet way to celebrate team wins.

Personalized Progress Rewards: Mechanical pencils serve as tangible incentives for classwork completion and personal growth. Using the engraving pen to personalize each pencil turns a simple school supply into a proud symbol of their hard work and achievement.

Storage Bins: Clear organization teaches responsibility and ensures these essential items remain structured, accessible, and ready for daily student use.

By addressing both sensory needs and physical well-being, this project removes daily obstacles to concentration. Students will build valuable self-regulation skills, feel recognized for their personal growth, and remain actively engaged in deep, uninterrupted learning.
